Gameplay and Mechanics

We thought it would be a good idea to write a short piece allowing people to have an idea of what they are actually buying. The rulebook is available to download for free and will cover more detailed aspects such as set up, unit capabilities and dozens of other topics.

How this all works

Overview of Gameplay

Phase I: Roll

The player rolls two dice which determine which resources will be picked up by each player.

Phase II: Build/Trade/Buy

During this phase, the player who rolled may build infrastructure or military units. They may also buy empire cards or soldiers and conduct trade with other players or the bank.

Phase III: Attack

During this phase, the player who's turn it is may decide to attack any player on the board. The attacking player must have at least two soldiers in the territory they wish to attack from.

Phase IV: Redeploy/Loot

During this phase, the player may make one non-combat troop movement to one adjacent territory by land, or one appropriate movement by sea if applicable (see rule book). At this time, the player will also collect one resource from each country he conquered and maintained control of at the end of his turn.

Pass the Dice

After completing their optional troop movement and collection of any loot, the player will pass the dice clockwise and the cycle begins again.

Victory Conditions

All four victory conditions are live at all times - a player can win at the beginning, end or even mid turn so stay alert!

Economic Victory: Hold 20 Gold Pieces

Military Victory: Control 4/7 Continents

Cultural Victory: Control 8/11 Capitol Cities

Technological Victory: Control six buildings, one of each kind. (Colony, Port, Fortress, Metropolis).
